A Whole Different Way of Looking at Things with Shundo David Haye

  • WITHIN Meditation (Online) (map)

Join WITHIN Meditation teacher Shundo David Haye for an hour of inspiration and conversation about living your practice in the world. This event is part of our monthly series of online gatherings about “How Mindfulness Can Change Your Life.” In each, you'll meet other students in our global community, and be inspired by one of our favorite teachers.

Shundo will share how residential zen practice helped transform his life, and how you don't have to go to the monastery to feel the benefit. You'll have the opportunity to ask Shundo anything you like about leading a more fulfilling life, tuning into the present moment, and the timeless wisdom of the traditions mindfulness is drawn from.

How to Join and What to Expect

This event will be held 5:30-6:30pm PDT on Sunday May 16th. We'll use Zoom to gather online together; a link to join will be emailed to you 15 minutes in advance. We recommend joining via computer or tablet (vs phone), so you can see the other participants and the event leader easily.

You'll also want to have a journal or other writing materials on-hand. Other than that, come as you are!

Registration ($10) is through Eventbrite. If you’re a WITHIN member, this event is included in your membership! Email us at sit@withinmeditation.com for the promo code or to learn more about becoming a member. Click here to register for the event through Eventbrite.

Shundo is an ordained Zen priest. He came from England in 2000 to live at the San Francisco Zen Center, and spent fifteen years in residential training, including five years of monastic practice at Tassajara. He helped found and run the successful Young Urban Zen practice group at the Zen Center.

Although he loves the robes and the formal rituals, he is interested in reaching people who will never set foot inside a Zen temple. He has taught at tech companies, schools and colleges, yoga studios, retreat centers, and the county jail. He loves being outside, especially on a bike, and leads regular mindful hikes around San Francisco, as well as a weekly outdoor meditation.
