Meditations For Falling Asleep At Night

  • WITHIN Meditation (Online) USA (map)

Good sleep is such an essential part of feeling good, thinking clearly and being well - but it can be tough to fall asleep when your mind is going a million miles an hour!

WITHIN teacher Adam Coutts is offering this two-part workshop to help you learn specific meditation techniques to help yourself fall asleep at night.

This mini-course meets twice for two hours. In each two-hour workshop, Adam will:

  • Introduce techniques to soothe insomnia and ease into restful sleep, including awareness, visualization, and mindfulness

  • Guide you through the practice of techniques, including elongation of the breath, progressive relaxation of the body, mindfulness of body rest states, and visualization of tranquil scenes

  • Provide helpful paradigms and information about meditation for sleep, and ways to promote healthy sleep

Registration ($25; $20 for WITHIN Members) includes two Zoom workshops on successive Sundays: February 21st & 28th, 6:30-8:30pm PST. When you sign up, you're committing to attending both sessions live, so that you can learn and practice everything Adam has to teach you. The sessions will not be recorded.

Adam Coutts loves to meditate, and he loves sharing with others the blessings that he has found through meditation; spaciousness, peacefulness, self-awareness, meaning, clarity, and vitality.

Adam began teaching meditation in 2002. He has since taught weekly sitting groups, eight-week classes, trainings in corporations, jails, and schools, phone and webinar classes, recording for an app, YouTube videos, one-on-one coaching clients, and massive mindfulness events at Burning Man. He considers it an honor and a pleasure to relate to people through meditation teaching.

Adam's teaching is mostly informed by Zen and Theravada/Vipassana Buddhism, along with Advaita Vedanta, Western psychology religion and philosophy, and his years as a participant and teacher in "authentic relating" communities. His teaching is marked by humor, relatable references to some of the more personal sides of being human, and quick insight into the deeper meaning of student's questions.

Adam has meditated daily since 1989 and sat about eighty seven-to-ten day intensive meditation retreats in total with various spiritual/religious lineages. He has lived in monasteries in the USA, India, Japan, and Thailand.
